Default Outlook 2007 Pro not responding

I upgraded to Office Prof 2007 from Office XP Pro on my Dell inspiron 9300
using WinXP ver2. Old version of office, including Outlook, was running
fine. Did the install, registration and downloaded all updates. Opened
Outlook first, and it hung when the "Configuring Outlook" popup box came up,
with "Migrating Account Settings" in bold. Waited several minutes, checked
Task Manager and it showed both the "Configuring" box and Outlook itself not
responding. Closed and reopened in safe mode, with same results. Ran the
check that came up without finding anything wrong. Ran Office Diagnostics
which found no problems. Have repeated trying to open Outlook 2007 2 more
times with same results.

All of the other programs work properly. Outlook is the only one that won't
open.

Downloaded and tried to install Update for Outlook 2007 (KB933493) but it
was already on the computer.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Try with a new profile created via the Mail icon in Control Panel.

Thanks for that. The new profile worked. I can now open outlook. Can I
delete the old profile?

However: I am now getting a message that occurs everytime Outlook is opened
that there is a newer version of Live Search Maps for Outlook that needs to
be repaired, but the file cannot be found on my computer. It was,
apparently, in a temp folder and has been erased. I searched the install
disk for it, but it is not on there, either. Any ideas?

You can remove the old profile if you like. There really isn't any need to
though. Just set Outlook to not prompt for the profile used via the Mail
icon in Control Panel.
For your current issue I'd reinstall/update Live Search Maps for Outlook.
You can get it from:

Default Outlook 2007 Small Business - Not Responding

One of your first steps I see in the various comments is to create a new
profile. I have gone to the Control Panel/Mail, and I see Outlook. I selected
the first bullet that said something like Help Me determine, and it keeps
coming back Outlook. How do I change it, and what should I change it to? I
couldn't find this in Office 2007 for Dummies.
