Are you running Norton Internet Security or Antivirus? What was the last
update you did on your PC when you noticed this issue?

Yes.

That issue got solved. As you said, recently I installed a zone alarm
internet security suite, when disable and run outlook, i can access the
mail.....later i again enabled the security suite. Now i can access mail as
usual.

Thank you very much for your support.

It's been a while since this post but I just figured out my
comcast/outlook/vista dilema and thought I would share what Comcast told me.
I have had no problems since I made these changes.

From the Tools menu, click on Account Settings

Highlight the Comcast.net account and click Change

Your Name and your E-mail Address should be your entire comcast.net email address.

Under Server Information the Account Type should be POP3

Incoming Mail server should be mail.comcast.net

Outgoing mail server (SMTP) should be smtp.comcast.net

Under Logon Information the username should be your comcast.net email account without the @comcast.net

Password is your current email password. Make sure that the Remember password box is checked.

In the Internet E-Mail Settings window, click the Outgoing Server tab and check the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication box.

The Use same settings as my incoming mail server radio button should be
selected as well.

Click the Advanced tab and change the Outgoing server (SMTP) to 587. Click OK

Uncheck the box that states This server requires and encrypted connection (SSL)

And change the Incoming server (POP3) to 110

We will try this and see if this works

On the Change E-mail Account screen, click Next

Click Finish

Close outlook and re-open it
