I've come across this before but can't remember what the fix was. When
creating a new profile on Outlook 2003 working with Exchange 5.5, the profile wizard keeps changing the Exchange server name to the FQDN. So it changes informed02 to informed02.informed-direct.com. This is on an NT 4 domain so there isn't any internal DNS to handle things like this so it hangs whilst it tries in vane to access a DNS entry that never resolves. On existing profiles, the server is listed simply as "INFORMED02" but I can't remember how you get around this for new profiles. Edit it manually to informed02 and it changes back. Even type in the IP address, and it changes to informed02.informed-direct.com. How do you stop this! Thanks, Rob. |

As a quick workaround, I added an entry for informed02.informed-direct.com to the local hosts file but that's a nasty fudge! Rob. |
