Default Attachments will not open for the recipient. They arrive in code.

My Outlook 2000 allows me to insert attachments - word documents, jpegs,
etc., but they don't arrive at the recipient's inbox in the form they should
- they are usually converted into huge amounts of code.
I can still receive attachments, but its when I send them that I have
problems.

Any help would be appreciated.

That's a sign that your recipients' mail client isn't able to interpret the
data you're sending. Make sure you're composing your message in Plain Text
or HTML and not Rich Text.
