Hi,
I hope someone could help me with this - bit of a saga... We had a Small Business Server installed recently which migrated us to Outlook 2003. The SBS installation ran into some problems and the installation had to be rolled back. So now we had Outlook 2003 installed on our PCs. I got a fatal error on my copy and 'told microsoft about the problem'. They said that I had to uninstall and re-install Outlook. So I uninstalled 2003, but when I came to re-install it, it refused the licence key. I suspect it was purely for an SBS installation. So I dutifully re-installed my Outlook 2002, only to find that the 2003 .pst files are not compatible with 2002! So - copied the new 2003 files to a PC that had 2003, created a new pst file as a 2003 version, imported the 2003 stuff into it and copied back onto my machine! Fired up 2002 and all my mail was there! Checked the email account - worked first time! However, when I try to send/receive I get the following error: "Could not open the item. Try again." Huh? Tried numerous times but it don't work. Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to get all the facts down. I have Googled on this error, but to no avail. Anyone any ideas? -- Rob Grattan, R&D Software, robATrndsoftwareDOTcomDOTau |

Importing is never the correct way to transfer Outlook data. When you import
an entire PST file you will almost invariably corrupt your profile. Start over. Create your Outlook 2002 PST file, then _copy_ the data you want from your 2003 PST to your 2002 PST. Close Outlook and make sure you have exited completely. Now your 2002 PST file is safe to use. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Rob Grattan" robREMOVE@rndsoftwareDOTcomDOTau wrote in message ...
