Default Problem with Office on wife's login

I have Office 2003 installed on Windows XP Home, and it runs fine on my
login. When I switch to my wife's login on XP there are problems. Each time
I try to open Excel or Word it shows the "Preparing to Install" message, and
each time I try to open Outlook I get the message "The operation failed due
to an installation problem. Restart Outlook and try again. If the problem
persists, please reinstall." I also tried to use the Detect and Repair
function under "Help" while in Excel, and it started to load the file but
then just failed. Any ideas???? Thanks.

I have seen this problem on and off after we applied Office 2003 SP2.

I would first try to remove her email profile (Docuuments and
settings\{Username}\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook) and then retry.

If that fails, delete her user profile, (saving anything she wants in my
documents form the PC. Then llogon and restart Outlook.

Also, remove any Outlook plugins or add-ins to see if that helps.

To be pedantic, that's NOT her email profile. Mail profiles are kept in the
registry.

Yes, I tried all suggested.

1. When I checked in Documents and Settings for the user profile (Docuuments
and
settings\{Username}\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook), the folder did not
exist.

2. I then deleted the user profile and loghed on and attemeted to open
Outlook but the problems still persists.

3. There are no plug-ins or add-ins.

Any thoughts?

Did you create a mail profile for her using the Mail applet in Control Panel
while logged in with her Windows username?
