Default migrating account settings

Purchased office 2003 some months back but have always been unable to open
outlook. Have now got the same issue with outlook 2007 and it is driving me
mad!

Click outlook icon and a 'configuring Outlook' box comes up with 2 lines,
Migrating preferences and importing user data. Then a secondary box comes up
saying 'cannot open your default e-mail folders. The information store could
not be opened'
Click on OK and the whole thing drops.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Will
