Hello,
We get permission error when we create following rule in Outlook 2000/2003 -Any incoming message, - Have Server Reply using a specific message -Except Subject does not contain "SPAM" We get the permission error when people try to save that SPECIFIC message. Sounds like Outlook requires full owner permission to PUBLIC folders why? I don't want everyone to have full permision on public folders Is there another way to get around this? Thanks |

The people who has "Owner" permission on public folders in outlook seem to
be able to create this rule no problem. (And I saw an MS arcticle about outo replies in regards to public folders.) Rest of the people who don't have this permission, so they get permission error when they try to save specific message MC "Sue Mosher [MVP-Outlook]" wrote in message ... Sue,
I just went back to confirm what I said was true. I just granted a person owner permission to a sub folder under public, that person no longer got error mesage when creating the rule This rule sounds like server side rule that everyone has to has a place to store certain outlook settings MC "MC" wrote in message ... The Public Folders hierarchy is not involved at all in creating mailbox rules, unless, of course, the rule actions include moving items to a public folder. You are creating mailbox rules, not using Folder Assistant to create public folder rules, right?
The hidden message that the server would use to handle such a "have server reply" rule would be stored in the user's mailbox, not in Public Folders. -- Sue Mosher, Outlook MVP Author of Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.turtleflock.com/olconfig/index.htm and Microsoft Outlook Programming - Jumpstart for Administrators, Power Users, and Developers http://www.outlookcode.com/jumpstart.aspx "MC" wrote in message ... Why people get permission error while saving the message for the rule?

Maybe we'll know more when you answer the question I asked about the folder. Also please provide the exact, full text of the error message.
