A friend of mine has an HP laptop running on Windows XP Home Edition.
He has Office 2003 Student and Teacher Edition on the computer -- which includes Word 2003, Powerpoint 2003, Excel 2003, and Outlook 2003, but not Access. He also owns Office 2000 Professional Edition, which does include Access 2000. Here's the problem: Whenever I try to install just Access 2000 onto his computer, the computer reverts to using Outlook 2000 instead of the Outlook 2003 that was already there. I do the custom install and only check Access 2000 to install (and not Outlook 2000), but Outlook 2000 ends up on the machine and takes over. And, I can't see any way to uninstall the Outlook 2000. He's just trying to get the Access 2000 software that he already owns onto the computer where he already has Office 2003 Professional (and which doesn't include Access). Any ideas on how I can do that without it installing Outlook 2000, or ideas of what I might be doing wrong? P.S. I tried both installing the Access 2000 in a different folder and in the Office 2003 folder and still get the same results -- Outlook 2000 takes over. |

That's because you cannot install into the default MS Office folder without
overwriting the old version. Installing Access 2000 with the newer Office is not recommended anyway. But if you must, you have to custom install to a diff folder.
