Not sure why I'm getting my name in [ ] when I hit the space bar

I'm sure I hit a combination of keys to make this happen but can't figure out
what I did - when I hit the spacebar on cap lock (sometimes) it just inserts
[Katie] - how do I get rid of it. Tried rebotting - didn't work.
