Using Outlook 2002, I inadvertently deleted (permanently) a whole email
INBOX of my second account, with all it's (important) files & folders. I was able to retrieve some of the saved emails from a backup to an external drive. Unfortunately, I didn't retrieve all because I had Outlook open many times when doing the back up. Ah, that is another story... I am always learning---after having problems, it seems. However, after this, now email sent to both my email accounts go to one email INBOX. I cannot create a rule to send all mail addressed to my second email address to a different folder/INBOX, as I could previously. When I go to Tools/ Rules Wizard, I get the following Message: "The Command is not available. See the Program Documentation about how to use this extension." I have done: Help/ Detect & Repair I feel like a Newbie, despite having used Outlook for several years. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

Thanks Go back into the rule you defined to move e-mails into the other "inbox". You will need to re-point the folder selection at that new folder. Outlook knows it by a reference ID that got deleted when you deleted the folder (and also deleted it from the Deleted Items since dragging it back out from there would've also worked). Outlook knows the object you pointed at when you defined the rule. Creating a new folder, even with the same name, does not create the same object, just another different object of the same *type*. So just redefine your rule by re-selecting the folder. |

Brian, how do I do that (Open with CleanRules Command switch)? It seems to
me that everything goes through the Rules Wizard. Paula "Brian Tillman [MVP - Outlook]" wrote in message ... "Paula Shanfield" wrote in message ... When I do Run with the following path, I get a message that it cannot be
found. I get the same if I just put "outlook.exe /cleanrules" as you suggested in another forum thread I found. What am I doing wrong? C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\outlook.exe /cleanrules Thanks "Paula Shanfield" wrote in message m... Brian, how do I do that (Open with CleanRules Command switch)? C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\outlook.exe /cleanrules You're either not including the quotes around "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\outlook.exe" or not including the space between ".exe" and "/cleanrules". From the error I'd guess the former. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |

Per your advice, I changed what I put into RUN to:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\outlook.exe" /cleanrules Then I got the following error message---different from before. "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. The Command line argument is not valid. Verify the switch you are using" What to do?? Despite having used Outlook for many years, this is all new. Thanks, Paula ================= "Paula Shanfield" wrote in message m... When I do Run with the following path, I get a message that it cannot be found.
