![]() Hi Can anyone suggest anything better than Google Desktop? Although Google Desktop is WAY better than all Microsoft's searching, the problem I'm having is that after I do an archive of my Outlook from one .PST to another .PST file, it does not bother to correctly re- index. - Any suggestions? Cheers Ship Shiperton Henethe P.S. Max budget $50 (preferrably free, with adverts if necessary) |

After several tries over as many months, I have completely uninstalled that
application from all of my computers and have not looked back... nor had any of the myriad problems that arose from its use. -- Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook] Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. ![]() 1. Diane - windows desktop search I found "windows desktop search" shockly irritating in many ways. Terrible interface, unreliable results, plus difficult get it re- spider, plus it intefers with my searching precisely with the existing windows search (which is sometimes what one needs). Plus it seems chew up loads of resources... There is NO WAY I'm going to reinstall that thing. 2. Milly - what else to do you use then? 3. A friend has now strongly recommended X1 but it's rather expensive... I would be much happier with Google desktop IF: -I could search only selected drives or folders -I could search on file names only, and ignore content -I could search on email subject lines only, and ignore the body of the email -I could search on more than one filetype at a time. -I could add my "own" types, e.g. RAR to the default lists |
