Hi...
Is there a limit to the list of senders in a rule which copy mail from certain senders to a certain folder? I have this rule, containing 28 different addresses or parts of addresses, and today I can't seem to add any... :-( -- Regards Zadig Galbaras (nick) www.tresfjording.com ----- |

there are limitations to the size of a rule. It's based on characters, not
addresses or words. Try adding a couple of characters at a time till it stops allowing more, then copy and paste it into notepad to count the characters - The folder name and path is also counted, so take that into account too. I thought it was 255, but I forget for sure. You can squeeze more names in by shortening the addresses as much as possible - use domains only etc - and by using a shorter folder name at the top level of the mailbox. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Need Help with Common Tasks? http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/ Outlook 2007: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2007/ Outlook Tips by email: Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Subscribe to Exchange Messaging Outlook newsletter: "Zadig Galbaras" wrote in message ... Thank you Diane, that was the answer I was looking for.
I'll just start another rule for further managing of mail going in this particular folder... -- Regards Zadig Galbaras (nick) www.tresfjording.com ----- "Diane Poremsky [MVP]" skrev i melding ... there are limitations to the size of a rule. Create a new contact-type folder and enter them there. Then use the clause "sender is in contactfolder Address Book" in your rule. Rather than trying to manage a ridiculously long rule comprised of dozens, hundreds, or thousands of e-mail addresses, you have them easily manageable within a contact-type folder. |

The condition, "senders address contains", was copied from the
"from"-section in the e-mail alternatives, into a rule to move the mail to a folder. During several tries, trying several possibilities, the mail still resided in the inbox, making me think I reached some kind of a limit somewhere. -- Regards Zadig Galbaras (nick) www.tresfjording.com ----- "Brian Tillman" skrev i melding ... Is the problem that the message gets copied instead of moved? Add the "stop processing more rules" action to any rule that moves a message. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
