I use Outlook 2007. I sent an e-mail to a friend and saw my photo in that
e-mail when I view that message in Sent Items. I do not see that photo when I compose or send that message _only_ when I view it in Sent Items. When I click on that photo I see my entire Contact information which includes all my personal information (passwords, etc.). I tested this and sent a good friend an e-mail. He doesn't see that photo, he just see's my Signature. I am not sending my Business Card or vcf file. What is going on ... and it this normal? Thanks, DH |

I have two Contacts for myself. One contains all my personal info in the Notes field and the other just has my Name, Address, etc. and a photo. The simplified Contact is the one I send to others who want my vcf file. Tonight I deleted the simplified one since I could easily send a Business Card (which only shows what I deem it to show). After I deleted that simplified Contact of myself, I then noticed that every e-mail I sent displayed a photo of myself. When I clicked on that photo in Sent Items, I saw all the personal info in the Notes field. It was obviously linking to my Contact but I did not know for sure what was being seen by others. At any rate, I went back and reinstalled an earlier pst file from today and that 'problem' is solved. I must say that I was quite upset when I thought that my passwords were being sent. That proved not to be the case as I sent an e-mail to a friend and he reported back that he only saw my signature - no photo, no additional information. Whew. |

Diane, this appeared to be a glitch that went away. The photo in question
was only seen at my end - the recipient did not see it. I confirmed that with a friend. This was just a strange glitch that went away. Diane, well the glitch is not over. I just sent an e-mail to my wife (using
my account). I have two Contact entries for myself - one with personal info in the Notes field and the other, a simplifeid entry but with a photo. The simplified entryis for those who want my vcf file. My e-mail format is set up to have a signature included - just text. When I send an e-mail everything looks as it should - no surprises. When I look at that same e-mail in Sent Items (after it's been sent of course) I see a photo from my simplified Contact entry under the 'sent' time stamp. The person at the other end does not see that photo, only my text signature. This is a glitch but not a serious one. Suggestions? Thanks, DH "Diane Poremsky {MVP}" wrote in message ... Diane, I solved the glitch in a roundabout manner. I removed the photo in
question from my Contact. That was the photo was was appearing in the e-mails only after I sent them and only seen on my computer. After I removed the photo from my Contact entry, I closed Outlook. I then added the same photo to that Contact entry and now that photo does not appear in e-mails I send (when viewed on my computer). I hope what I wrote was clear, but at any rate, the glitch is gone. "Diane Poremsky {MVP}" wrote in message ... Where is the photo? honestly, it is not a glitch - its a feature - and you are getting worked up
over nothing. This is what it looks like when you have a contact for the sender and it has a picture assigned. You'll see the contact picture in your mail folders. While this is the inbox, it works the same on the sent folder if you have a contact with the picture assigned for your sending address - the recipient will not see it, it is only there for your benefit. (I use an exchange acct so my acct doesn't have a picture assigned or I'd use a screenshot from my sent folder.) http://www.xsolive.com/Outlook%20Scr...orm.aspx?ID=24 -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Need Help with Common Tasks? http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/ Outlook 2007: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2007/ Outlook Tips by email: Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Subscribe to Exchange Messaging Outlook newsletter: "Dave Horne" wrote in message ... An easy way to conceptualize it is this:
If you write an E-mail and in the To: box you put your mother, father, sister, brother, and priest's E-mail addresses, and those people are all listed in your Contacts, you can double-click any of their names/ addresses and see all of the details you have entered about them. This is because you have information set up in Contacts. When your priest gets the message, he can't double-click your mother's E-mail address and see the same information you can. He'd either see the information that HE has in his contacts for your mother, or just the address if she is not listed among his contacts. When you double-click on your picture in your own messages, that is the same as clicking one of those names or E-mail addresses -- you see all of your Contact data for that person. It just so happens that in this case the person is yourself, and you have a lot of sensitive information there. When your brother double-clicks your name or address or whatever in the message, he will only see whatever information he has set up for you in HIS contacts. |
