Client's Outlook 2003 was set to Text Only mail. When I changed it back to
HTML problem went away. This is quite disconcerting as access to shared
folders inadvertently cannot be good from a security or privacy standpoint.

Can you view the HTML source of the message and see what it shows the
link pointing to now?

2003 with all updates installed) that has a web link (std www.***.com)
and the recipient (someone on his lan) replies to the message and when
he receives the reply and clicks on the same web link it opens the
shared My Documents folder on the senders PC. The original message
opens the web page when the link is clicked.
