Default Converting Outlook Express files to Outlook 2003 in Vista

I'm writing in behalf of my hapless roommate, whose newly purchased HP
desktop (running the "bold new wonderful" Vista Home Premium!) is
confounding us. We can't seem to get Outlook Express 5.0 messages to show up
in Outlook 2003 running on the new machine.
I know that Outlook keeps all of its data in a huge "meta-file" called a
..pst file, while Outlook Express keeps its data in many files. But isn't
there some conversion utility that gathers all the loose Outlook Express
files together and converts them to a .pst?
Can anybody shed some light?

the easiest way is to import them into vista's mail them export to outlook
but there are utilities that may work with the loose files. See
http://www.slipstick.com/config/convmsg.htm - address magic plus will do
both mail & addresses.
