Default How can set to default the Format Text with No Spacing in Word / Outlook 2007?

I am using Office 2007 package, including Word 2007 and Outlook 2007.

I have noticed that when I open a new document (or email) my Word always
deafults to "Normal" in Format Text, which means that there is a one-line
space in between each line that I write text in Word or Outlook.

How can I set that both Outlook and Word always deafults to "No Spacing"
between the lines of text. I assume that whateevr setting I have in Word
are automatically used by Outlook when I open a new email or select reply to
one?

Please advise!

So you want each line of text to display over the top of the previous one?
Why?

DIfferent templates for normal documents and email.

Brian,

No. I just want each line to be regular, rather than line of text, next
line blank, then the next line of text and so on.

See how I wrote my original message here? That's thje right way. But for
some reason my Word 07 and Outlook 07 defaults to having an extra BLANK line
inserted in between each line of text.

Hope I am more clearer now...

Thanks

Then you want single spacing, not "no spacing".

Either set your message to Plain Text format, change Word's interpretation
of Enter, or simply let Word control the line wrapping (i.e, let the text
autoflow, don't press Enter). By default, in HTML, Enter means "new
paragraph" (p), which will produce double spacing. You could press
Shift-Enter, which is "new line" (br) and will produce single spacing.

When I said "change Word's interpretation of Enter", I mean that Word
allows you to set an option that will have Enter produce a new line
instead of a new paragraph. I recall seeing it in Wiord 2007, but I don't
recall where and I'm not at a Word 2007 system right now.

Brian,

Thank you. I slowed down and re-read what you wrote and it makes poerfect
sense. Maybe the better question I should ask is this:

How can I change the default STYLE to "No Spacing" as deafult for BOTH Word
2007 and Outlook 2007?

I have tried opening a Word 2007, then clicking on option #2 under Style (No
Spacing), then clicking on Change Styles and then selecting Set as Default.
Then I exit Word 2007 and then restart it, and guess what? It again shows
me option #1 under Style (Normal).

Why won't it save this to the template?

I guess this is happening in Outlook 2007 because it's not "fixed" in Word
2007.

Any more advise?

Default How can set to default the Format Text with No Spacing in Word / Outlook 2007?

Brian,

I have found PART of the solution!

http://channel9.msdn.com/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=278029

So one needs to Edit normal.dotm, located in %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Templates
Once you open it, you change the style (no space) and save this file.
After I exited and restarted Word 2007, it defaulted to exactly how I wanted
for the new, blank document.

HOWEVER, this did not fix the issue for Outllok 2007. It still deafults to
"Normal Style". is there an Outlook 2007 "equivalent" of normal.dotm file
where I can implement that change also? Otherwise, I need to click to click
Format Text and Manually select it everytime that I open a new email to
write.

Any further help is much appreciated.

Hi Brian,

I serach my machine for email.dotm or even dotm by itself, but nothing of
significance was found. If you do comeup with a name, that would be great.

Thanks again!
Michael
