Default Mark sent items as read

I am using Outlook 2007, and I have configured three different accounts.
I have created rules to move both incoming and outgoing messages to
different folders.
This is working fine, however it would be nice if the sent items did not
show up as unread.
I have googled different news groups, and it seems like this is a common
problem.
Does anyone know of a way around it?
