Default Why can't I get my hotmail account linked to office 2000?

I have Office 2000 installed on my laptop and I am trying to link hotmail to
my mail service. I am not able to import my hotmail account or send
messages and would like guidance on how I can get this set up. I am using a
cable connection, thanks for the help!

I know this is about using outlook, but you may want to consider Thunderbird
as an alternative. It's free and it's a pretty darn good replacement for
Outlook.

Currently Yahoo, Hotmail, Lycos (Europe), MailDotCom, Gmail, Libero, and AOL
domains are supported.

Currently (snip), Hotmail, (snip)

Only with the Hotmail extension installed, not natively
