In Outlook 98 there was a method that allowed the sender to have the
system automatically break up a large, over 2 MB, message into smaller more acceptable segments that would recombine into the large message once received at the client end. I have been trying to locate that feature in Outlook 2000 with no success. Is this still available? I have a file of about 20 MB that needs to be sent to a client but cannot be sent due to its size. Other methods, such as Winrar, are available but requires the receiver to go though added steps to put the file back together. The old method of sending large files would be much cleaner. James |

I don't recollect even OL98 doing that, although Outlook Express did (and still does). Outlook doesn't do it now, for sure. I'd look at FTP if at all possible; email is not really a very efficient file transfer mechanism. |

You can transfer large files over the internet using
http://www.yousendit.com. I wouldn't recommend sending such a large file through email. -- Kathleen Orland Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ http://www.howto-outlook.com/ "James" wrote: In Outlook 98 there was a method that allowed the sender to have the system automatically break up a large, over 2 MB, message into smaller more acceptable segments that would recombine into the large message once received at the client end. I have done FTP but it requires a client at the posting end. Core FTP
Lite is one I use for my students to access files needed for a evening college class I teach. It works well for that purpose but I will also check into the yousendit post below. Since these are inbound messages though it will require the sender to get it past their IT group which adds another layer to the problem. It would have been much easier for them if Outlook had that ability. Darn. Thanks for the site pointer I will check it out as well. James K. I consider it a lucky thing that we can send file attachments at all. Thanks for the site pointer I will check it out as well. James K.
