Hello,

I need a way to automatically sync a user's Calendar folder on an
Exchange server with a Calendar folder in their PST in near real-time.

Outlook doesn't appear to provide that feature natively, so can anyone
recommend a 3rd party product that would suit?

All the products I've found so far do PST-PST sync'ing but not server
to PST sync'ing.

Thanks. I had a look but only a couple of those solutions do
private-to-pst and even then, they're specific to the folder type and
pretty expensive.

Well, firstly, if you have Exchange, you shouldn't be using PST files for
your data storage; everything should stay in the Exchange mailbox. You
should be using OST files (cached mode in OL2003 makes this a cinch, but you
can use Offline Folders in previous versions). That syncs the entire mailbox
with the local OST file, for offline use.

Let me explain.

We only use Outlook to share Calendar and Contact folders, as well as
for Public Folders, among a small number of users. Company policy is to
use another product for messaging.

One user has connected to his messaging mailbox via POP/IMAP and his
default delivery location is a PST because he has over a GB of messages
and I don't want them on the Exchange server.

His primary Calendar is on the Exchange server so that it can be shared
with other people. However, his PDA is sync'ing with the (empty) PST
Calendar, presumably because it's the primary delivery location.

The only options I can see a
- find a way to tell Activesync which Calendar to sync with, i.e., the
one in Exchange and not the PST, without affecting the primary delivery
location;
- find a way to copy the Exchange Calendar to his PST automatically or
on a scheduled basis.

Any other suggestions?

BTW we're using Outlook 2002/XP vs an Ex5.5 server.

I don't know of anything that will do what you're looking for, sorry. I
don't think this configuration is ever going to be a very graceful one. I
would talk to management about the 'company policy' and see how you can
clean it up. Maybe Exchange isn't what your company needs - if all you
wanted was shared calendaring, there are other products (search
www.slipstick).

How are you going to back up /maintain / do any sort of admin since he's
using a PST file? See See
