Nope, that the intrinsic behavior of that particular e-mail program to
NOT provide vector through it to make use of defects in the graphics
engine back in the OS. You will need to try another e-mail program
that has the behavior that you want.

I hear but cannot verify that OL2007 might have an option to enable
image preview but then you will need to sacrifice stability of your
computer to betaware.

Outlook 2007 allows the user to click on images and Office document attachments and preview them in the reading pane.

No. It is unsafe for a real email app to display or open attachments
automatically.
