Default Tools Contacts Change Defaults

No again the problem as 1st posted:

The contact (address) list in Microsoft Outlook is in first name,
last name I want last name, first name. Help says go to Ms Outlook,
Tools, Options, Contacts, (change default settings ), then click OK.
Then Apply on the next screen.

The problem is Apply is grayed out, and cannot be used.

Perhaps you are confused by the fact that the settings you seem to be
trying to use are only for new Contacts, not existing one. Is that your
problem?

That much you made clear. Answer the other questions.
The Contact Folder has many possible views and names appear in many
fields. If you do not state which view you mean and which field you
mean, we cannot help you.

Why can you not answer my questions? Can you not understand that "contact
list" has no meaning to anyone but you? We have no idea what that means.

If you can not figure out what I am asking don't respond. You are not
helpful just aggravating. I told you where the problem is too many times. I
told you the steps to get to the problem. Put down the booze and either
help or just move on

Two of us have asked you for clarification and told you how to do so. No one
else has been able to decipher your question either. As to your wish that I
move on... granted. For the second time, I give up. Post accurate and clear
information if you expect help in a newsgroup.

You will have solved this problem long ago I feel but the way I achieve what
I think you want to is to open the contact. Where it says "File as" there is
an arrow to the right of the window. Click on it and it gives you various
options as to how the record is filed. e.g by company name, last name or
first name.
