Outlook 2003 outbox delaying sending messages, can't delete message
Outlook 2003 outbox is holding messages too long, cannot delete one
message in outbox, no matter what I try. Had to reboot to get it to send messages.

Stop your antivirus from checking outgoing mail.

To get the message out of the Outbox, click FIle, check "Work Offline", then stop and restart Outlook. You should be able to delete the message. Then uncheck "Work Offline" and stop and restart Outlook. -- Brian Tillman

Thanks, but that didn't work. See new posting. I have to close Outlook and then reopen to get it to send messages.
