Default outlook email sending issue

i am having issues sending emails in outlook.
i can send emails most of the time.
i usually use a LAN or WLAN connection with my laptop.
when i use those connections i can send emails just fine.
the issue only happens when i am connected to the internet via my modem.
usually when i am traveling or when i am away from my house with my laptop i
use my gprs modem to get an internet connection.
for some reason when i use this connection i can not send emails using
outlook.
and yet, i can still recieve them.
outlook finds the incoming and outgoing servers just fine.
but it just runs into an unknown error when trying to send an email over the
gprs modem connection.

does anyone have any ideas on how i can fix this?
i get this issue in both outlook 2003 and outlook 2007 in xp.
right now i wanna fix the issue in outlook 2003.
i ran into this error in Windows xp.
i think this issue will happen in vista but i'm not sure.

please help.

from,
Steven

Default outlook email sending issue

Are you authenticating to your ISP server when sending from your GPRS modem?

If you are travelling, you are probably using another connection rather than
your normal ISP and may need to use authentication. I would inquire of the
folks whose ISP you are using when travelling of the requirements to use
that ISP for connecting (Internet Cafe, Hotel, etc.)
