I have the same problems would like to know if you have been able to resolve.
"Gina Maloney" wrote: Thank you Herb, I did try the Help menu, and all the options therein. I did not think about the SP=Service Provider. It is Comcast, and could very well have something to do with it. Your info, and suggestions were helpful. I will try #5, and log in, logging. "Herb Martin" wrote: "Gina Maloney" wrote in message ... I've reviewed postings for past few days, including my own from 11/22, and found no substantive answer to making Outlook email send. Also, finding this program may be more trouble than it's worth. Can anyone out there, especially you Microsofties, explain how to use this confounding program. Is there any kind of troubleshooting class that would be less confusing than the program? Help! One of the problems with responses is that there are many reasons that mail doesn't send and you (in both messages) have provided not specific symptoms. If you hit Help and just type "Send" you will get this title as the first item: Troubleshoot: I can receive but not send email messages There are probably dozens of reasons from the obvious, network is down to the SMTP server to authentication or relay prohibited issues or just the wrong SMTP server specified or even misspelled. Have you looked at the error messages? (The little icon shows briefly in most cases in the LOWER RIGHT border -- force send, and click it quickly when it shows up. Also you can enable logging by: Tools-Options-Other- Advanced Options-Enable Mail logggin (troubleshooting) Most likely reasons: 1) Wrong SMTP server specified 2) Wrong account-name/password for that server IF required 3) You aren't "within" the network for the SMTP server's home network and it doesn't support password relays (#2) Which becomes wrong SMTP server or #1 4) Email server itself is screwed up (can others send) 5) You're sending something illegal (according to your server) so send a very simple NON-html message -- Herb Martin |
