I am returning a computer that I installed the beta version of office 2010
on. How do you export your e-mails and contact changes?
Thank you

You don't. You copy your PST file, just like with every other version.

Returning? It wasn't your computer on which you installed software? It was
a rental? Or the owner wants it back? Are you sure that you want to
"return" the computer with all your data on it? Did the "rental" agreement
state that you had to return it with the OS still installed and that you
were not permitted to wipe the disks to secure your private information?

that I installed the beta version of office 2010 on.

This newsgroup discusses the released versions.

Copy the .pst file like Russ said. You copy it like you do any other file:
open Windows Explorer and do the copy, use a command shell and use the
'copy' command, or however you have been copying files before. It's just a
file; however, be sure to unload Outlook so it doesn't have that file open.
Later, don't import. Just use File - Open to look at the .pst file. If
you want to mix items from there into your current message store, select and
drag them from the ancilliary .pst file that you opened into your message
store's folders.

You have to close Outlook and locate the PST file to copy it.

You don't understand. You don't import PST files. You just open them. Did
you need instructions on how to copy and paste files in Windows? What is
your question?
