I have been using OE6 to receive email messages of my Hotmail account, but
since the end of August, I am no longer able to do so any more. The error message showed the following information: Hotmail server: http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp Response: "Forbidden" Port: 0 SSL: No Server Error: 998 Error Code: 0x800CCC33 I have not made any changes to the OE settings and my Hotmail account is still active, as I can successfully log in online and view my email. I am wondering if Microsoft has already dropped this service as there will be no more Outlook Express for the upcoming Windows 7? Please help. Jimmy Ho |

On September 1, 2009, as planned for over a year, Hotmail turned off the WebDAV protocol for good. Your options: http://windowslivehelp.com/solutions/settings/archive/2009/02/18/how-to-add-your-e-mail-account-to-microsoft-outlook-express.aspx With this option, you lose folder synchronization. POP3 is not a synchronzing protocol. If you want a client that will work as MSOE used to work (but will no longer work), there is Windows Live Mail: http://download.live.com/wlmail When you run the installer, you choose only the applications you want to install. Nearly as I can tell, if you already have Windows Live Messenger installed, this installer will automatically update Messenger, as well as installing Windows Live Mail. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |
