For newsgroups not carried by 'msnews.microsoft.com', you need another news
service provider. I am posting this using 'news.eternal-september.org', a
free service available he

http://www.eternal-september.org

You can probably find several others, either free, or paid, from an Internet
search. MS Outlook Express allows you to set up multiple news servers.

The same way you subscribed to this one.

Or did you mean something else but didn't say what you meant? Are you
perhaps looking for non-microsoft.public.* newsgroups? Microsoft's NNTP
server only carries Microsoft groups. To get at other groups, you will
have to use a different NNTP server.

If you are looking for text groups, Albasani and Motzarella (now
Eternal-September) are free. AIOE is also free but has a rather
restrictive quote for posting (just 25 posts per day along with other
anti-spam measures that get in the way of actually just using
newsgroups). Individual.net is cheap at 10 euro/year. If it is, ahem,
"entertainment" binary groups you are looking for, you'll have to find a
paid NNTP provider. Some folks prefer to buy in quota "blocks" to get
cheap prices. The folks in alt.free.newsservers should have info on
free NNTP providers and perhaps on good prices for binary servers.
