In OE6, when I open an attachment it automatically places a shortcut to the
document on my desktop. How can I stop OE6 doing this? Thanks -- Spotted-Jaguar |

Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Win2K SP4) when
posting to this newsgroup. What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall (if any)? Is your anti-virus application configured to scan incoming and outgoing mail? Has a Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this machine (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)? -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Client - since 2002 spotted-jaguar wrote: In OE6, when I open an attachment it automatically places a shortcut to the document on my desktop. 1. Disable email scanning entirely.
Why you don't need your anti-virus to scan your email http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm 2a. Download the Norton Removal Tool, saving it to your desktop: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...05033108162039 2b. Close all open applications (i.e., anything with a taskbar icon). 2c. Double-click on the saved file to run the tool. Don't touch your keyboard until the run completes, then reboot. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Client - since 2002 spotted-jaguar wrote: Thanks My OS is WinXP SP3 I'm running the Virgin.net virus/spyware checker and have been for over 2 years Anti virus only scans incoming mail I had Norton anti virus but stopped it over two years ago Thanks for your help Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Win2K SP4) when posting to this newsgroup.
