However, just to cover all bases, I tried checking it, to no avail. (None expected.) BTW, when I do Reply Group for a message with charset="Utf-8", the title bar of the composition window explicitly indicates "Unicode (UTF-8)" after the subject. No such charset indication appears in the composition window when I do Reply Group for the other messages for which I have no problem, for example your message, which was sent which charset="iso-8859-1". In fact, when I look at my posted reply to a message with charset="Utf=8", my message also has charset="Utf-8". Yet when I look at a posted message that I composed new, it has charset="iso-5589-1". (Since I started this thread, I changed my Read Fonts encoding from Western European (Windows) to Western European (ISO).) I think that demonstrates that OE is handling replies to UTF-8 messages differently. It gives credance to my theory, now, that the behavior of Reply Group under all the conditions I mentioned is either unusual or a defect. Thanks for all the constructive inputs. I think we've beat this horse to death. ----- original message ----- "Ken" wrote in message ...
