Sending a picture in OE
I have Windows XP Home with SP3 and use Outlook Express for my emails.
The only way I can email a picture to someone is as an attachment and this is to email the file from My Pictures folder or by dragging the picture into my email. This then sends the picture as an attachment. Using the "Insert" link in my email does not work for me. I get as far as "Browse" to select my picture and then my OE crashes each time also loosing any text in my message. HTML formatting is turned on and also ticked in the mail sending format. Including a picture as a "Background" from the Format link works OK. I have two questions; 1 How can I get my Insert link to work and 2 Is it possible to send a picture not as an attachment but within my email and separate from the text and how is this done? |

Sending a picture in OE
for your second question...
snipIs it possible to send a picture not as an attachment but within my email and separate from the text and how is this done?/snip Yes, it is possible and here is the procedu If you have IE7 and outlook express6 first: Change the format of your email to richtext - open your email and then click on format, then click richtext(HTML) second: click "insert" then click picture a dialog box will pop up with options for browsing to the place where the image is stored, then select the image and then choose where you want the picture to be placed. Now you can write your text but the placement will depend on the choice you used for picture placement. Try all the different options until you get what you want. If you have vista or IE8 I don't know what the procedure would be. I hope this helps. Sandy "Bruce Hagen" wrote in message ... :1 & 2: Do not use Insert | Hyperlink. Sending a picture in OE
Your current Identity may be damaged, especially if its the default Main
Identity. Try one or more of your accounts in a new Named Identity... File | Identities | Add new identity Assuming all is well, (1) compact all folders in the old identity, (2) import messages from the old identity into the new one, and then (3) delete the old one (File | Identities | Manage Identities). To avoid such corruption in futu - Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local folders created for this purpose. - Empty Deleted Items folder daily. - Frequently perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm - Do not cancel Automatic Compacting, should it occur, and do not attempt to close OE via Task Manager or shutdown your machine if Automatic Compacting is taking place. - Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It can cause corruption (i.e., loss of messages) and provides no additional protection: Why you don't need your anti-virus to scan your email http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Client - since 2002 John wrote: I have Windows XP Home with SP3 and use Outlook Express for my emails.
