Ok, Bruce, thanks for that. I'll do as you suggest.

Default New mail notification

I have read all of the comments from many persons, regarding problems
associated with notification of new e-mail....I think I have a unique
situation, and am wondering if anyone might have an idea as to a solution.
My Dell laptop is only a few months old, and my e-mail is delivered via
Outlook Express 6. When new mail arrives, I get a "balloon pop" sound,
indicating new mail has come in. However, I am ABSOLUTELY unable to change
that sound, to something more audible/louder (such as a "tada," or a
"Microsoft Notify" sound). Trust me: I have repeatedly gone into my Control
Panel, gone to Sounds, and attempted to change the balloon sound. Nothing
works! I have no clue how to get a different (better) sound -- the balloon
pop is fairly quiet, and I often miss hearing the arrival of new mail. Does
anybody have a clue how to fix this??? Thanks in advance.

Double check:
- Tools, Options, General, Play Sound
- Control Panel, Sounds, Windows, New Mail Notification

Note that in Control Panel there are several similar events. Messenger
has a New Mail and New Message events. You need to make sure you got
the right event.

Windows Live Mail has the same new mail notification features as are
built into OE. But I'm not aware of any add-on like OETune for WLM.

For help with the Windows Live Mail client, use this newsgroup:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...e.mail.desktop

You can also get to the newsgroups via this web site:
