Manually cuted emails from my oe store folder and pasted to a new one called
"outlook express" in C:\ then changed the location in OE but a message alert shown up. Last thing I remember is OE as recently installed with 4 folders instead my 50 folders. Looked at my new location expecting to find my pasted dbx there in C:\outlook express but nothing. Searched the whole C: hard disk nothing. Used a recovery tool for hds and there is no trace of any of my old dbx. After reading how to move the store folder I realize I shouldnt cut my emails from original location but its done. What really happened to my dbx? Will I see those ever again? |

Check your Recycle bin for bak files.

If you had recently done a Compact, and not emptied the recycle bin, you
would have had OE created BAK files from prior to the compact. And presumably, you have not been making manual backups of the DBX files. When you told OE to move the store folder, it did that. It moved what was at the old location (which you had deleted) to replace what was at the new location, wiping out your data. I'm not sure what recovery utilities you tried, but you might try this DBXpress - http://www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/Default.aspx It can bypass the file system looking for parts of messages. It MIGHT recover SOME of your messages. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "zero" wrote in message ... There is no such a thing "Ron Sommer" escribió en el mensaje ... See http://www.insideoe.com/files/store.htm#movestore
If you didn't do it that way, chances are that your entire message store is history now...unless you've got a back-up of the data or you find BAK files in Recycle Bin. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ zero wrote: Manually cuted emails from my oe store folder and pasted to a new one called "outlook express" in C:\ then changed the location in OE but a message alert shown up.
