... ... after 30 seconds an error message appears ... So is the error message going to remain a secret? Don't describe an error. Don't paraphrase or summarize an error message. Copy-n-paste it exactly as it appears or transcribe it verbatim. http://66.39.69.143/goodpost.htm http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 http://users.tpg.com.au/bzyhjr/liszt.html |

sorry for my unsaviness with this support site, hopefully this is what you
wanted to see: A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19 what i was trying to communicate was that a seperate window appears(unable to copy and paste the exact words) that asks you to wait 60 seconds or stop oe6 from trying to communicate with my isp's smpt server(smpt.comcast.net). the only way to get rid of that window is to wait or stop. Have you yet tried disabling the e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program? Its interrogation of your e-mails causes delays which are sometimes too long for your mail server to wait so it times out the mail session. Also exclude EML files from the scan. It provides no protection not provided by the regular resident protection. Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's anti-virus seems to be causing problems too. -- Frank Saunders MS-MVP IE,OE/WM www.fjsmjs.com Do not reply with email |

You /can/ copy and paste it if you did it as I said. A single *left* click
will highlight the text area in blue and then a right click will allow you to copy it. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Boo" wrote in message ... sorry for my unsaviness with this support site, hopefully this is what you wanted to see: A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. Boo I am currently fighting same thing. I have found it to relate to
message length, the longer the more likely to fail. Try sending yourself a brief text message like "the quick brown fox" Bet it works. Please let me know results. i disconnected the antivirus program and it still happens.
i ran a windows update also to see if any updates weren't up to date and the same thing occurs i'm running oe thru ie, but if i use the webmail program from comcast it works fine. i need to somehow get an answer to my oe not being able to send due to non-savy users unable to learn a different e-mail system. thanks again for the help "VanguardLH" wrote: "Boo" wrote in message ... frank,
you might be on the right track with the latest version of trend, thats what i have, but why would it work for two months with that new version and then cause this problem.
