Hello:
I am using Windows server 2003 and outlook express. This is my problem: I have an account in outlook express and i can send and receive e- mails when i am using outlook express on this computer. But what i want to do is sending e-mails from another application via outlook express. I execute my application, this calls outlook, and it seems like outlook is sending the e-mail. The e-mail shows up in the Outbox window so it makes me think that in any moment it is going to be sent. But then the Outlook Express window stays with the message "Connecting..." for a long time and nothing happens. Then I get this other message that says: Your SMPT server has not responded in 60 seconds . Would you like to wait another 60 seconds for the server to respond? Account: mail.mymailserver.com Server: mail.mymailserver.com And my e-mail never goes out by itself from the outbox. If I click on the outlook interface then the e-mail goes out from the outbox. Is it a security problem with my application? Or could it be a security problem that don't let me send e-mails from another application because the security in the server don't let automatic processes to send emails using outlook express? Or is it a configuration in the smpt server that don't let me send e- mails this way? HELP, PLEASE? |

If that is the exact error message the account is set up wrong in the
'application' mail.myserver.com is very unlikely to be the right smtp name, but very likely to be a programmers attempt to remind you to change myserver to your server as defined by your ISP If you have obfuscated the account names, that makes it harder to determine the fault -- -- -- -- -- -- Adaware http://www.lavasoft.de spybot http://www.safer-networking.org AVG free antivirus http://free.grisoft.com/ Etrust/Vet/CA.online Antivirus scan http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx Super Antispyware http://www.superantispyware.com/ Panda online AntiVirus scan http://www.activescan.com Panda online AntiSpyware Scan http://www.pandasoftware.com/virus_info/spyware/test/ Catalog of removal tools (1) http://www.pandasoftware.com/download/utilities/ Catalog of removal tools (2) http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/n...aspx?CID=40387 Trouble Shooting guide to Windows http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/ Blocking Unwanted Parasites with a Hosts file http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm links provided as a courtesy, read all instructions on the pages before use Grateful thanks to the authors/webmasters _ wrote in message ... Another guess would be that since you consistently mistype SMTP that what you are really seeing there is another instance of it being mistyped. Otherwise switch to a cmd window and enter: telnet mail.mymailserver.com 25 and tell us what you see? ; ) --- And my e-mail never goes out by itself from the outbox. It provides no protection not provided by the regular resident protection. Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's anti-virus seems to be causing problems too. -- Frank Saunders MS-MVP IE,OE/WM www.fjsmjs.com Do not reply with email |

Uninstall McAfee and then run this: http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocumen... type=TS&ia=1 Avast! is free and good (www.avast.com). So is the Windows Firewall.
