Default INTERNET ACCOUNTS

Under the tab DIRECTORY SERVICES in Internet Accounts a number of accounts
have appeared which I haven't asked for including ACTIVE DIRECTORY - BIGFOOT
- VERISIGN - WHOWHERE. Can anyone tell me why this is happening and if these
are not needed, how to get rid of them

Thanks

There is no "Internet Accounts" menu in Outlook Express. There is,
however, a "Tools - Accounts" menu.

Those aren't accounts. Those are directories. If you don't use them,
delete them or disable their "Check names against this server when
sending e-mail". It's for when you only have a name and not the
e-mail address for the recipient. The Active Directory service is the
only one enabled by default but only valid if you are actually logged
into a domain.

For info, open OE's own help, Index tab, and read the items under the
"directory services" entry. Searching directories will slow OE when
retrieving e-mails if you use them. These are LDAP services. If you
don't know what is LDAP, do some research; start with
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ldap and
http://www.google.com/search?q=define:ldap.

Have you EVER used the "Tools - Check Names" menu (because you didn't
know someone's e-mail address but do know their name)? What's the
probability that these LDAP services have the recipient's e-mail
address (if not in a domain and where they run an LDAP server for
their employees)?
