Is this for newly downloaded mail from a POP3 mail server?
Mail imported or loaded from an EML file won't have any account information. Have you recently deleted and readded your mail accounts? Did you make any other changes around the time this stopped, such as enabling e-mail scanning in your anti-virus or installing anti-spam software? -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "treasurer" wrote in message ... Thanks for your reply Mike and I update:
* Newly downloaded mail from POP3 * I have not deleted or readded accounts * Updated BIOS recently * I have made no changes made to McAffee anti-viru/anti-spam. However latest auto update has placed McAffee anti spam folder in my Inbox. Turn spam filter off but same problem occurs. * Have now noticed that correct Account name flashes up with new mail download and then disappears from column after about 3 secs? You might have a corrupted Inbox.
- Create a new mail folder (e.g. Mytemp) - Copy (not Move) the existing Inbox messages to the new mail folder (Mytemp) - Close Outlook Express - Locate the filer Inbox.dbx (OE5+) in the mail directory and delete it You can use Start, Find (or Search), Files or Folders, Inbox.dbx to find it. On Win2000 you need enable the display of Hidden or System files in the folder options and XP you need to use the advanced options to find Hidden or System files. (You can also determine the location by looking in OE at Tools, Options, Maintenance, Store Folder.) - Open Outlook Express again. - It will create a new empty Inbox. Copy the messages back from the Mytemp folder. You can now delete the Mytemp folder. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "treasurer" wrote in message ... It's also possible that McAfee is causing the problem.
With some anti-virus (and anti-spam) programs, simply disabling the e-mail scanning function doesn't really disable it. It simply tells the program not to flag any messages. It still processes all the messages and may still cause send/receive failures. What you may need to do is uninstall the anti-virus program, then reinstall it using a custom install option and unselect the e-mail scanning component for installation. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "treasurer" wrote in message ...
