Default cannot send email. Did Microsoft change the outgoing port?

Hello Frank,

I will shut off my email scanning and see if that works. Any idea why these
settings worked for at least six months and now they don't?

Thank you for the quick reply!

Hello,

I have searched the posts but could not find a solution for my problem.
Two
weeks ago I suddenly could no longer send email from Outlook Express. I
use
Outlook Express to manage my Comcast and MSN email. Both simultaneously
stopped working. One account is on my desktop running Windows XP and the
other is on my notebook running Vista and Windows Mail. Both have outgoing
ports set for “25”. Did Microsoft change the outgoing port? Is there a way
around this? Below is the error message that I receive when trying to send
email.

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes
for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Account: 'MSN Mail', Server: 'smtp.live.com', Protocol: SMTP,
Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Thank you for any suggestions.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled.
