Default OE not connecting and asking for password

OE Suddenly started not connecting and when I click on the Mail Send and
Receive button I get a window asking for my password. I am running Cloudmark
anti-spam and PC Security Anti-virus with OE6 on a Win XP Home laptop.

Default OE not connecting and asking for password

I followed the process listed in the microsoft/support website and the same
password window keeps coming up and OE will not connect. If I click cancel on
the password request window the following eror message comes up:

There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was
rejected. Account: 'pop-server.rochester.rr.com', Server: 'localhost',
Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Authentication failed', Port: 38444,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92""

Turn off email scanning and that will put the mail server name back in.
You're showing localhost so it's running thru a proxy which is where the
problem is located.

No, just turn off any scanning, make sure the pop and smtp servers are reset
to what they should be.
