2GB Limit
Did OE ever have the 2G ceiling on the database that Outlook did/does? Does
OE6 still? Just on Win 9x, or on all platforms? |

Yes, OE has a 2 GB limit for each DBX file (all versions all operating
systems). It's also recommended to keep the DBX files much smaller, such as under 100 MB each. The larger they get the more prone to corruption they are. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Frank Haber" wrote in message ... Thanks, noted. For a friend who gets big JPGs and (ulp) videos as attachments to her email, would there be a util to strip the attachments out of all OE's dbxes, after she's saved_as to her documents directories? She'd like to archive text-only received mail by six-month period in received/sent folders by date. Is this a) feasible, or is the master dbx going to bloat in five years and detonate her anyway? b) better done some other way, like changing identities every year? c) even correct? Are binary attachments (and html dupe-bodies) part of the total? |

See OEX. It will remove attachments from emails and keep the emails
separate from the attachments as well. It does a lot of other things too. www.oehelp.com/OEX/ steve "Frank Haber" wrote in message ... Then have your friend compact their OE databases. |

Gee, that would make it real searchable. |

Click Forward | Remove the attachment code | X Out | Do you want to
save......? | Yes | Go to Drafts and you can move the e-mail (sans attachment) to a folder of your choice. You don't actually send the message. This is OK if you only do it occasionally, but Steve's OEX: www.oehelp.com/OEX/ really is a nice option. Check it out. You don't have to buy it just by visiting the site. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Frank Haber" wrote in message ...
