Losing Outlook Express when closing
Every time I close my Outlook Express 6, where I get my email, it coverts to
Outlook and I cannot access my email. I need help figuring out how to transfer my emails to Outlook since my computer will not let me use Outlook Express. I have to restore my computer to Friday every time my computer shuts down since this all started on Saturday. Sometimes my outlook express just shuts itself down so I really don't have any control. Therefore I really need to change to Outlook. Thank you for any help you can provide. Please make the directions easy. I am not all that computer literate. |

Every time Outlook updates it sets itself as default. To set OE as default again you can follow this: From http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/defaultl.htm Go to Start | Run and type this command, with the double quotes and spaces: "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /reg and then make sure that OE is selected as the default mail program in both IE and OE. If that isn't enough, see this article: "Send To" and E-mail Links Do Not Work Using Outlook Express as Default: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306098 You might also want to try this: Restores OE to the E-mail clients list in Internet Options http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/oe_client.htm To set Outlook as the default mail client,- Go to Start, Run - Type in the following with quotation marks and press OK "C:\program files\microsoft office\office\outlook.exe" /checkclient For more information on Outlook see: http://www.slipstick.com/config/defaultmailer.htm 2. To get your messages into Outlook open OE and click File | Export Messages. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM I won't answer email. |
