Could someone please tell me if it's possible to change Outlook Express 6
print defaults. Specifically, I would like to be able to print email messages without a header and footer (currently 'page x of y' and 'date' respectively). If it is possible, some simple instructions would be most welcome. I would also like to be able to print without my 'user name' showing in a bold font on the output, if there is some way of achieving it. TIA Regards, John |

OE uses IE's print engine and there is not much to change besides the
margins and print size. Every printer I have ever had did allow me to do this. Highlight only what you want printed, start the printer and choose Selection. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "John Taylor" wrote in message ... Bruce,
Thanks for the super prompt response. I can set the margins and print size without difficulty, but would really like to avoid the "added" header and footer. By "added" I mean that they're not in the message, but get added when a message is printed. It's not a printer option, but appears to be done automatically by OE6. Because the header and footer aren't visible, highlighting what I want printed and choosing Selection doesn't help; header and footer are still both added "automatically". Anyway, thanks for the suggestion. John "Bruce Hagen" wrote in message ... OE uses IE's print engine and there is not much to change besides the margins and print size. I don't see that on my machine. Are these received messages, or created
messages? If received, what I posted works for me. If created, I save it to drafts and then use the Open Message Fullscreen using this freeware tool. The only thing that prints besides the text is Page ? of ? in the upper right, and about:blank and the date at the bottom. Bruce,
They are received messages. The Page ? of ? in the upper right is what I was referring to as a 'header'; the 'footer' is the date, in the lower right. Together they are what I would like to eliminate, but it seems from what you have said that it's not possible. John "Bruce Hagen" wrote in message ... I don't see that on my machine. I thought you were also referring to the original message info. Highlight
the text you want printer, (best in an open window and not the Preview Pane and copy/paste into WordPad. The page and date will not print. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "John Taylor" wrote in message ... Bruce, They are received messages. I can help with the user name in bold print on top. That is controlled by
what you call your identity. If you go to file, identities, manage identities, you will fin d that the name in bold on top of your email is the name of your identity. Create a new one with what ever you want to be bolded at the top. That is what will print. -- Alynn "John Taylor" wrote: Could someone please tell me if it's possible to change Outlook Express 6 print defaults. Alynn,
Thanks for that useful piece of information; handy to know, although it doesn't seem to apply with my setup (Windows XP SP2 Pro, OE 6). If I go to file, identities, manage identities, the name of the identity is "Main Identity", which is certainly not the name in bold on top of the email. Regards, John "Alynn" wrote in message ... I created a new identity with the way I wanted my name to print and made that
my default. Unfortunately I had to import my address book and set up my mail rules and mailboxes from scratch. The good part is that I can click on properties in the manage identities screen and change that name if I want to change how it prints. You can't do that to "main identity." -- Alynn "John Taylor" wrote: Alynn, Thanks for that useful piece of information; handy to know, although it doesn't seem to apply with my setup (Windows XP SP2 Pro, OE 6). Thanks for the additional information; I'll keep it in mind, and maybe use
it at some future date if I have the need to do so. John "Alynn" wrote in message ... I created a new identity with the way I wanted my name to print and made that my default.
