Hi, all!
I use to backup my OE every week to another partition in my hd. My question is: I need to compact the folders before doing it or the other way around? I have never used DBXtract, and if someday I need to, it will work fine with the compacted messages? Xp pro sp2 and OE 6. Thanks in advance, Nana |

You should compact before and after you move messages. The space taken up
when you move, or delete messages remains until you do. DBXtract will not recover messages that go missing if something goes awry with the compacting process. For that, you would want DBXpress. The point would be moot however, if you just went to Windows Updates and downloaded all critical patches. A fully patched version sends a backup copy of all your dbx files to the Recycle Bin where they can easily be restored should something go wrong. You are running a very old and less secure version of OE. Please visit WU ASAP. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Nana" wrote in message ... Hi, all! Thanks, Bruce. Sorry for the delay, it's rainning cats and dogs down here,
so I can't turn on my pc, let alone my dialup connection. I didn't know my OE was old, I did notice things about dbx files sent to the recycle bin, but this has never happened to me. I'll pay attention to these questions as soon as I can. Have a nice day, and thanks again, you were very kind. Rosana "Bruce Hagen" escreveu na mensagem ...
