Hello. I'm tring to post a reply to a news message and it looks like it is
going to go through when I get this.
Outlook Express could not post your message. Subject ' unable to compact
all folders in OE', Account: 'news.microsoft.com', Server:
'news.microsoft.com', Protocol: NNTP, Server Response: '441 (629) Article
Rejected -- Ill-formed message id ' in
field 'References:'', Port: 119, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 441, Error
Number: 0x800CCCA9
What in the blazes is that about? I was doing fine posting messages to this
very news group until a few minutes ago. I don't recall makeing any changes
to OE at all. How can I post this messzage short of starting a new thread?
Thanks.

That error generally means a damaged Outbox, but since this posted, it was
probably just a hiccup.

If a thread is very deep, the References: header gets too long. Unlike
some other news readers, OE does not know how to trim the line.

The one workaround in OE is to start a new thread.

Another workaround is to start the post, then do a File, Save As to an
NWS file. Edit the NWS file in Notepad and manually trim the References
line (i.e. remove all but the first and last entries) then save the
file, double click it from the Windows File Explorer to open and
complete the post.
