Ok, this is just plain weird. It is sort of the reverse of the problem of
downloading the same messages over and over again. Under certain circumstances, if there is a protocol error when checking the POP inbox, the "Leave a copy of messages on server" setting is reverting to the default, i.e., unchecked! It is definitely not user error since it has happened about three times already. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? The client machine is Windows XP Pro and Outlook Express 6.00, both with all the latest patches. One thing is that we recently switched to a Windows 2003 based ISP from a Unix based ISP. Thanks for any guidance. |

A number of people have reported the problem, but as far as I can
recall, your are the first to mention that it seems tied to having an error during download. Others have just said that it seems random. You mention a "protocol error". What exact error message are you getting? The suspicion has been registry corruption, and the suggested fix to create a new identity. Thanks. I think it is unlikely it is a problem with the registry as it works
fine when communicating with a Unix server. __________________________ "Michael Santovec" wrote in message A number of people have reported the problem, but as far as I can recall, your are the first to mention that it seems tied to having an error during download. The mail server has no way to change the setting in OE. Something on
the PC has to be changing the setting in the registry. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Neil W." wrote in message ... Thanks. One or more options/settings in an ever-growing number of third-party
applications may be disallowing the change(s) from "sticking". These include but are not limited to Ad-aware's Ad-Watch, Spybot Tea Timer, SpywareBlaster, SpySweeper, Spyware Doctor, Norton AntiVirus, McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware, and Zone Alarm (Free and Pro). Here's something else about NAV that you may not be aware of: http://bertk.mvps.org/html/symantecdoc1.html -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) AumHa VSOP & Admin; DTS-L.org Neil W. wrote: Ok, this is just plain weird.
