I'm trying to help my daughter (in CA, I'm in TX) with a new
computer. Her prior computer's motherboard was blown, so she bought a new computer and the store suggested that she buy an enclosure for her old hard drive so she could migrate the data from it to the new computer's C drive. All is fine so far. She started her new computer, got her documents moved from the E drive (old C drive from old computer) to her new C drive; installed her programs on the new C drive and things seems to be OK, EXCEPT - when she opens OE none of her address contacts are in there (which I expected). She called me at this point and I told her to do a search of the E drive for .wab files thinking she could move them to the C drive and all would be well -- BUT, the only .wab files found anywhere is the new one on the new C drive which only contains the few addresses she entered yesterday. I don't understand where the files would have gone??? Shouldn't the old address book she used while using the old drive still be there somewhere? I'm sure I'm missing something important here,,, but searched old entries in this forum for clues and couldn't find anything. Any and all help appreciated. Thank you. Marianne |

Hi Marianne,
The path to the old Windows Address Book (*.wab) file should be similar to this: E:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book\User Name.wab (E: being the old C: drive) If this file is found move it to the desktop and point to it when importing addresses (File | Import Address Book ...) into Outlook Express. -- Tim K. aka Kuay Tim MS-MVP - Outlook Express Lynnwood, WA * "ssnazzy9" wrote in message ... For the WAB file, make sure that she does a Search that include system
and hidden files. Also, if she had Outlook (part of Office) installed on her old PC, then Outlook Express might have been set to share the Outlook contacts. In that case, Outlook Express would have been using Outlook's PST file instead of the WAB. In that case, you'll need to import the PST file into Outlook installed on the new PC.
