Default imbedded pictures-saving

I used to be able to right click on an inserted picture in an email to save
it. Recently it has stopped allowing me to save this way, and tells me it
can't access the picture. The only way to get the inserted pictures is to
change my settings to send plain text and forward the email back to myself.
Then the pictures come through as attachments.

Why can't I just right click to save them anymore? Has Microsoft changed OE
in the last update or something?

Christine

No updates have changed that. Do the following, and if it still does not
work, create a new identity which is the last item here.

General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They will eventually become
corrupt. Create your own user defined folders for storing mail and move your
mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder regularly. Keep user created
folders under 100MB, and Default folders as empty as is feasible.

After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders manually while
working *offline* and do it often.

Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are
open. Then: File | Work Offline (or double click Working Online in the
Status Bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until
the compacting is completed.

Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer
of protection that eats up CPUs and causes a multitude of problems such as
time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A/V program will
continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see:
http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

In Tools | Options | Maintenance: Uncheck Compact messages in background and
leave it unchecked. {N/A if running XP/SP2}.

If still no joy:

You may have a damaged identity especially if it is the default Main
Identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create a new one and test it.
If all is well, you can import your messages and Address Book from the old
identity and delete it.

Thanks. I'll give all that a try.
Hopefully it will work.

That seems to have done the trick. I had a hoard of stuff in sent messages
and lots of folders too. I can't believe how long it took just to delete
the stuff in the sent folder.

thanks so much.
