Help: How to backup my OE6 mail folder ?
Hi all,
I am new to OE6, I have mails in my inbox (laptop) which I like to transfer all these to my another PC which I can still use with another OE6. By clinking export - messages - to MS outlook will encouter MAPI initialisation error does which I suspected that is because my laptop does not have MS Outlook (only OE6). Pls advice how else can I transfer my complete OE6 local folder to another OE6 in another PC ? Also when I click on the recv mail, OE6 will download all mails from my respective account, but will also delete all downloaded email inside the email account. How do I prevent that ? I just need to download to my PC as a mean of working offline, but would not want to delete any mails in my email in event I am travelling. Thanks for reading. Sylvestin |

How to backup my OE6 mail folder ?
1) If you are trying to export to Windows Messaging or
Outlook97/98/2000+ on the same PC, then that program must be the default MAPI program (Not OE). The messages go to the default profile in that program. On the other hand, if all you want to do is back up the files or transfer to another PC using OE, Export is not the way to go. Backing Up, Recovering and Restoring Outlook Express versions 5 & 6 Files and Settings http://www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx http://www.insideoe.com/backup/index.htm 2) Assuming that you are using a POP3 mail account, you can have all users/PCs download all message from a POP3 mail server by selecting Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Advanced, Leave a copy of messages on the server in all users/PCs. One or more of the users/PCs should be set to delete messages from the server after a few days or else the server mail account will eventually fill. However, Sent messages will only be saved on the sending user/PC. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "sylvester_k" wrote in message ...
