When my friend tries to forward or send a picture or animation out of his
e-mail a pop up message comes up and says "one or more of the pictures
cannot be found do you want to send anyway" in OE. He went to
toolsoptionssendmail sending format, and the box is checked that says
send pictures with messages.

What else could be causing the problem?
Thanx

In Outlook Express you can only attach a file that is saved on your hard
drive.

Am I missing something here? I send digital camera photos all the time from
my camera's CompactFlash card using a USB connection. Then I may delete the
pictures from the card if they're not worth saving and never transfer them
to my hard drive. Of course, the CompactFlash card "looks" like a hard
drive of some sort to the computer.

The CF card is treated as a hard drive, and the picture only needs to be
available until such time as the message is sent. However, try preparing
your mail while working offline and then send it to the Outbox without
connecting and remove your CF card. Send your message now and you will find
the picture will not be sent with the message since Outlook Express can no
longer find it at the file path indicated in the message.

Hope that helps make it clear what the earlier reply was about.
